What a beautiful spring day! I loved this hike and will go back in the next couple of weeks. The Appalachian Trail is waking up and looking so good. The hike up to Wildcat Mountain was super easy—just right for Wessy's intoduction to the AT. Along the way, she met several hikers heading north with [...]
Sometimes, you don't have to go far to find peace and beauty. Walking and hiking along a local area in Toccoa. Anne even found two daffodils to take home with her. Then there were were with Wessy, who was intent on looking for sticks and ducks and found beavers instead!
What a sunny day and a great time at Victoria Bryant State Park with Wessy. She's growing up fast and she loves to give kisses. She doesn't really care where she is when a "kiss attack" happens. Here I am (finally) outside in the sun with Chip and Wessy. They are doing so well together [...]
A couple of weeks ago, I have a "covid-19" moment. I was so over all the talk about staying in and not spreading this virus. It was a few days before the governor said, "Open this state back up." Tension was in the air even in small town USA. So, I went for a ride [...]
Rumor has it that North Carolina is open! But I am so glad that I have had this time to hike some pretty amazing trails right here in northeast Georgia! The trail to Martin Creek Falls is one of then. It begins at Warwoman Dell just off of Warwoman Road in nearby Rabun County. It's [...]
Here's a perfect Sunday afternoon walk—not a hike—but a visit to the Chenocetah lookout tower. This evening the sunlight (golden hour) was perfect for my little Sony A6000 camera. Lake Russell is seen in the distance of this photo. This is an easy Google to get the directions. Hint: The tower is located on Chenocetah [...]
We started our hike to Panther Falls and Angel Falls in a little bit of a fern glade. This is a two-mile trail that's really a nice short hike with a few ups but mostly one that is full of really beautiful views. The trail begins near historic Lakemont and nearby Lake Rabun Beach Campground [...]
I don't know how I keep finding these fire towers, but they keep turning up everywhere. This particular tower is located in Bowersville, Georgia, not far from Lavonia. I was just out "rural riding," and I saw it right in front of me. This wonderful old tower is not even listed on the historical map [...]
