We started the 4th with Abby J‚ buying fresh corn, tomatoes, and other goodies at her farmer’s market. Her Soque Farms is open on Saturdays. Check out her Facebook page for hours and fresh veggies that are available. You will love visiting her!

While we were there, we had chicken wings cooked on her Big Green Egg. They were the best wings I have ever had; and believe me I learned all about “wings” while living in Savannah years ago. But as usual, Abby J has the competition beat.

After the wings, she broke out homemade peach ice cream. I thought I was going to pass out and just go to heaven. This stuff was sooooo good and so rich. I lost my mind and totally forgot that I was cooking later in the afternoon and would be eating again!

Then she gave us a short class on working with pizza dough, which was infused with sunflower oil and herbs. She cooked these later in the day on her big green egg. We were nuts by this time just thinking about all the farm to table goodies that Abby J offers at her farm.

I returned home to Cocoa Joy and we sat outside on the patio and talked about never leaving and staying and just being together—me and Cocoa Joy! Forever and ever, Amen! (smile) Lots of mint in the background of this photo. We love to crushed the leaves and place them in ice water. So refreshing!

Later, we headed to Anne’s where the ribs had been slowly cooking on low until we tossed them on the grill and then things really heated up. Abby J’s Chipotle Roasted Garlic Salsa is on this rack of short ribs. Heaven!

Her corn is on the grill on the top of this photo and summer baby squash are at the bottom!

Later out on the boat heading to South Carolina to watch fireworks. Loving America—we will prevail! At times, I wish we had a little more Winston Churchill running in our American veins. Does that make sense?

“We shall defend our [country], whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,” – Winston Churchill.

Lining up together for the light show.

We docked for a few minutes where we met new and old friends. We couldn’t resist tossing the ball out into the lake for an insistent Lab, who loves to swim!

And then the fireworks began and

kept going for 45 minutes! Great ending to a wonderful day.
