Sunset is my favorite time of the day! I’m always on the hunt for beautiful settings that help me end the day with a sense of peace and well being. You can imagine my surprise when recently I found this amazing little place to walk in the evenings with the dogs. It’s along a narrow unpaved, tree lined trail near the house in Marietta. Without much warning, it opens up in a small field that contains mostly unmarked graves.

At just the right time each evening, sunlight floods this little hill top and leaves me wondering about it’s history.

A few of the head stones bear the names of families who probably once, or still do, lived in the area.

So, we (the dogs and me) have a sweet little walk and come away feeling a little more refreshed. Of course, it is not as exciting as the squirrel-laden trails at nearby Kennesaw Mountain, but it works for a quick time of escape. Sometimes, we have to explore a little in order to discover the beauty and the peace that God has for us. In fact, it could be a short walk along the next bend in the road . . . .
