This is just a favorite place to visit . . . and I have forgotten the name of the shop! Those who live in Clarkesville will know, and that’s really all that matters. Thanks to Kelly Vickers, I do know the history of the cabin. It is Benjamin Hawkins’ log cabin that was once located near Mt. Airy. It was positioned inside the “Hawkins Line” or boundary line dividing the Cherokee land from the U. S. after the Revolutionary War. This is a very simple summary because there’s so much more detail to Hawkins’ life and story.

These are just random photos taken last week while shopping with a friend. But as we looked and picked up Christmas things, I couldn’t help but think of Amy Grant’s song A Christmas to Remember. It is one of my favorites!

Twinkling lights
A chill is in the air
And carols everywhere
Close your eyes, it’s almost here
Candles and cards
And favorite movie scenes
The smell of evergreen
As special as it’s always been
And I have a dream or two
Maybe they will come true

Setting our hopes on a big snow tonight
We’ll wake up to a world of white
It’s gonna be a Christmas to remember
Light up the fire, play some Nat King Cole
Always sentimental and don’t you know that
It’s gonna be a Christmas to remember!
