Wow, the colors of fall are really popping out this week. Last Sunday our hiking group went to the Tallulah River area. I took this photo while standing on rocks above the gorge area. Then Kate and Cocoa wanted to jump from rock to rock in an effort to get closer to the water. I'm [...]
We have a couple of favorite hikes because they are well traveled trails and because they are just so beautiful. This one, near Moccasin Creek State Park, is one of those areas. Hemlock Falls is perfectly located in a wild but gorgeous area of northeast Georgia. Our group had a great time hiking the shorter [...]
This is not the best photo but it will work. I had to get two very treat eager dogs to sit and stay at the very place where the Appalachian Trail begins! This is it! Here's the marker for the A. T. and these two trail bunnies were more than willing to hike the first [...]

On the way up to Anna Ruby Falls, you walk beside a rushing stream that is both fresh and inviting. You really know that you are in a National Forest. In fact, it has the flavor of the Smokies. We give this hike a four paws because the pathway is so dog friendly and accessible. [...]
