Our tour guide told us Carl Sandburg was a master at bookmarking a book he found particularly interesting and especially if he found something in that book he wanted to read later. Consequently, there are thousands of white markers in the over 12,000 books he owned—just in case he wanted to reread some portion of a certain book.

Ronald Regan wasn’t the only celebrity to own a CJ6. This burgundy red Jeep belonged to poet/author Carl Sandburg. According to a sign posted in the garage, the Jeep was a gift to Mr. Sandburg for his work done on the screenplay of “The Greatest Story Ever Told.”
