I took this photo on the way to Pelee Island and immediately thought of the book (and movie) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I also recalled Lucy’s words to Aslan: “Oh, Aslan, will you tell us how to get into your country from our world?”
“I shall be telling you all the time,” replied Aslan. “But I will not tell you how long or short the way will be; only that it lies across a river. But do not fear that, for I am the great Bridge Builder.” —From The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
In Lewis’s books, Aslan’s Country is where good Narnians go after they died. It is beyond the rim of the world and inaccessible to living Narnians without Aslan’s intervention. Though at the conclusion of The Dawn Treader, Reepicheep reached Aslan’s Country by sailing off the edge of the world in a coracle.
