I’ve photographed a lot of things—a lot of people from all walks of life, lots of sports moments, lots of beauty in our country and abroad, but I have never photographed a herd of pigs and I wasn’t disappointed! They lived up to being everything I have heard but really so much more. They’re very smart.

My friend Cavonna Holcomb decided to wait until I got there to feed the ones she has on her family’s farm. She didn’t even open the bag of food. She just had her husband toss it in the trough and before we blinked, the bag was open and food was being munched!

This little piggy went to the market. This little piggy stayed home. This little piggy had roast beef; this little piggy had none. This little piggy went Wee Wee Wee all the way home. Okay . . . someone had to say it!

This little guy is three weeks old and very sharp. He’s being “weaned” off his Mom’s milk but is very persistent to give it a try.

In fact, they all finally won out as Mom collapsed on the ground.
