Yesterday, we said a final goodbye to Dad. I wanted so badly to take photos of the military that was there and especially the presentation of the flag that had draped my Dad’s coffin to my mother. But I knew it was something I should not and could not do. Mom’s tears were so touching as the solider knelt before her and said, “On behalf of the President of the United States, this flag is presented to you on behalf of a grateful nation and the United States Army as a token of appreciation for your loved one’s honorable and faithful service. I am deeply sorry for your loss.”

What began as a rainy day ended with a glorious sunset. The funeral was perfect and God answered our prayers by totally ending the rain.

This is the last really good photo I took of Dad. We were having lunch in the Bistro were mother and he were living. He was having trouble with his memory but he was still so happy to be with my brother Jay and me.
