Two things go on in my mind on trails like this. First there is a sheer mystery that comes when you are walking through Rhododendron canopies like these.
Second, you always feel a wonderful sense of isolation from the heartache and sorrow of the world in places like this—places that are remote and unattached. The crunch of the leaves beneath your feet and the fresh scent of pine needles fill the air reminding you that there is much more to life than the rush of electronic information and stress of bumper to bumper traffic.
