Chipley’s Cows

Can you believe this cow’s ears? He heard Chipley’s whinny little voice pleading for him to draw closer. He (the cow) almost freaked out. Chipley is my little cowboy dog. He absolutely loves cows. I don’t know where this passion came from. He was born in the city but all I know is that he is cow crazy!!

Finally, the cow had had enough of our giggles and laughter, and stuck his tongue out at us!!

The colors of fall are still a couple of weeks away but the woods are beautiful all the same

Bucket of History!

This C-45 Expeditor  is also a “Twin Beech” or Beech 18 because it was the 18th model produced by Beechcraft Corp. It was on display in Toccoa this past weekend during the Currahee Military Weekend. It has been restored in colors of a United Kingdom Royal Air Force liaison aircraft—black and white stripes, which distinguished Allied aircraft during the June invasion of France that lead to the liberation of occupied Europe.

Brief facts: Power: Pratt & Whitney Wasp Jr. 450 HP each; Max. Wt: 9000 lbs.; Max. Altitude: 20.000 feet; Wing Span 47 feet 7 inches; Max Speed: 240 MPH; Crew: 2; Passengers: 5

It was fun meeting this pilot, who flew this C-45 from Peachtree City, in the south Atlanta area, to Toccoa on Saturday for the airshow.

No one will care outside of those who live in the Toccoa area, but in front of the airplane is the LeTourneau hanger where early planes were housed and passengers met before leaving for points around the world.

Bears Really Do . . . Live in The Woods!

The bear featured on the front of the “Wanted” poster in this photo is the same one that almost destroyed the backpack shown here. This past weekend I drove up to Neel’s Gap with the dogs. Someone had placed this display outside the doorway to the Walasi-Yi store, which is located right on the Appalachian Trail. It was a healthy reminder that bears actually do live in the national forest! Recently, I have felt hesitant to take a few trails that seemed a little too dense with undergrowth, especially with Cocoa Joy and Chip (who seems to know no fear) along.

Fall is here but our butterflies are still going strong, especially when bright colorful flowers are involved.
