Leaf Color To Die For

Yesterday I walked up to the falls with our director of landscaping, and we were talking about how beautiful the leaves are this year. The summer was hot and dry but that has just made the colors more brilliant. We both were reminded of the fact that leaves are their prettiest when they are dying. (Some of my friends will understand the analogy.) Few things are more striking than a Red Maple tree in the fall.

A Solitary Tree

Winston Churchill wrote, “Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong.” I couldn’t resist taking a photo of this one last Saturday. How many of you from TFC know where it’s located? The light was perfect as it washed down over this solitary tree so I pulled out the camera and took its photograph. . . . . I think it may have even smiled at me.

Time for Fall

This weekend is homecoming weekend at the college. After it’s over, I’ll drive up into the mountains to buy pumpkins and a very large mum for the yard. This has just become a tradition. A few weeks ago while buying apples at a local market, I took this photo of two fall gorges.
