Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Filed under: The Company of Friends

An afternoon at James Sloppy Floyd park provided a good time for me to use a polarizer that originally belonged to a friend’s father. He bought it when he was in Japan many, many years ago while serving as a missionary. It is an awesome little filter.

Here’s Chipley with Pat. He’s really growing up fast, but he’s still pretty much a baby. Where’s Cocoa Joy? She’s probably under the bench looking for a possible stray crumb.

The rain finally caught us as we drove home.

Tiny little flower; tiny little memory.

No one but Mrs. Anaya would understand this photo. I’m not even sure I do, but I know she does. So, this is for you—Johanna’s Mommy!

Sort of Like The One Across The Pond

naturalhoneysuckle

When I purchased Pretty Hills several years ago, this native honeysuckle bush was already in my backyard along with several more. But I just read that they must “be controlled” or they will “take over” the yard. Without knowing it, I have been doing this for the last several years. Below is another variety, but this one is in C.S. Lewis’s backyard at the Kilns near Oxford, England.

Remembering Peggy Bass

Filed under: Memories, The Company of Friends

My dear friend Peggy Bass is with the Lord now, but I still miss her. She’s been gone from this earth two years and each spring when my Bird’s Nest violets begin to appear I’m reminded of her bright and infectious smile and laughter. “How’s my friend?” She would always ask whenever she heard my voice. These days, I try not to think about how much I miss her presence, her wisdom, and her unconditional love and acceptance. Her friendship was a solace to my heart for so many years. This Sunday is resurrection Sunday, and I know that if she were here with us, she would be smiling and singing songs of praise and adoration to the Lord. But she’s not. . . . Instead, she’s in heaven with Him singing glorious Alleluias to the One who is and always will be—our faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Atlanta’s Cherry Trees

This time of the year is beautiful in Atlanta. The dogwoods are beginning to bloom, too. In a couple of weeks we’ll be driving home with cars covered in greem pollen. Absolutely, can’t wait!
