In reading Letters to an American Lady this morning, I ran across this quote and wanted to share it with you.

“You and I who still enjoy fairy tales have less reason to wish actual childhood back. We have kept its pleasures and added some grown-up ones as well.” —C. S. Lewis

I guess this is the week for roses. Most of my friends have taken photos of roses and posted them on their Web sites. Last Saturday, I purchased a new one for Pretty Hill, and tonight while I was outside, I noticed a bloom had opened. So, I could not resist joining the growing crowd of sharp shooters.

This year’s Cherokee Rose is in full bloom and totally out of control! Four years ago, my Dad told me that it would quickly cover the  fence railing that I put up especially for it to run across. He was right. Now, I’ll have to read to find out when I can cut it back!

Dogwood Trails

Here is the tree that is so well known in Atlanta—the Dogwood. The blosoms are my favorite. Though we typically don’t say, “Have you seen the Dogwood blosoms?” We just ask, “Aren’t the Dogwoods beautiful this year?” You can literally find places in the city that have Dogwood trails that brim with color—white, pink, and even red!

Have you ever had a memory that seems to follow you around and beg for “air” time in your thoughts? This is one of those memories. It keeps “popping” up in my mind. So, I decided to post the photo and maybe it will leave me alone. (smile) It was taken on a Sunday afternoon; rain had been falling all day, and a serious chill was in the air. Suddenly, around 5 p.m., the sun came out and the colors of England were all around us. But before heading back to London for the night, we ducked into this pub and ate blazing hot Shepherd’s Pie, drank cups of hot English tea, and talked—lots—of course. Our tummies were full and so were our minds with thoughts of how we had just eaten dinner in a place that was established in 1518!
