Becoming A Christmas Tree

Filed under: Christmas 2011, Fall and Winter in the Mountains

Late Tuesday afternoon a Toccoa friend and I hiked back to the place where I had found this little Christmas tree days earlier. It was hidden away deep within the 1,100 acres surrounding Toccoa Falls. As we approached, we knew that we had to decorate its  “Charlie Brown” branches. And suddenly this song came to mind—

Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky little lamb
Do you see what I see
A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite.

Said the little lamb to the shepard boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky shepard boy
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song
High above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepard boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know
In your palace wall mighty king
Do you know what I know
A child, a child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace people everywhere
Listen to what I say
The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light

O’ Christimas Tree, O’ Christmas Tree

Just a lonely little tree that needs to be transformed in to a sweet reminder of the Christmas season.

Seek and Knock

Filed under: Fall and Winter in the Mountains, Memories

I have lots of favorite passages in the Bible, but one that God reminds me of at pointed times is from Matthew 7: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (verse 7 NIV). Don’t get me wrong; I’m not a “name it and claim it” type of person. But I do believe there are times when we need to ask Him for whatever our need is and when we do, His blessings will be revealed to us.

Made for Another World

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” — C. S. Lewis

Lovely Winter Cottage

Filed under: Christmas 2011, Fall and Winter in the Mountains

This little cottage is located along one of my favorite mountain roads. I often drive it on Sundays with the dogs in tow. We head out to the Mark of the Potter (Highway 197) take a left at Batesville and then drive (Hwy 255) to the Sautee Nacoochee Valley and the Old Sautee store where we buy imported Root Beer and munch on crackers and cheese from Norway.
