I have this thing for doors, steel bridges, and dogs. But my secret won’t go any further than this website. While visiting Joy and Denny this past summer I saw this red door and immediately said, “Stop!” Even though the house was boarded up and abandoned, this single door called out to me. I always wonder what took place on the other side of front doors like this one. Was there laughter, sorrow, forgiveness, and love?

These doors are on the front of a historical Methodist-Episcopal Church located in Ohio a few miles from Western Pennsylvania. They stirred my imagination as I thought of the people who worship here and longed to be closer to God. Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you!” (emphasis mine)

And these doors lead into a small Anglican church on Pelee Island, Canada. What a sweet little church. I wish I could have gone inside and just sit in one of the pews and listened to the hush of the small sanctuary.

Totally different doors with a totally different function but you have to wonder what life was like years ago when this was a part of a working farm. I love doors! Strong doors that make a statement and when closed, they keep you safe.
