The New Colliding with The Past

I only had a quick moment to take this photo while crossing the street in front of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Below is a photo of St. Paul, whose image is on top the church.

I’m amazed at the power portrayed by this building. It survived the blitz of World War 2 and became a rallying place for Londoners. Though it was hit by enemy bombing raids, it did not collapse. In fact, many people believed its protection was God’s sign to them that England would not be overcome by her enemies.

Queen Victoria greets people as they approach the square in front of St. Paul’s. It is only fitting that she is there, especially since she was considered sovereign over the church and the defender of the faith during her reign.

Discover Eccleston Square

Here is the view across the street from where we stayed in London. Ecclestion Square is beautiful in the Spring. We did not know that we could actually go into the garden area until the day before we left the city. These city gardens (there are many around the city) are locked and only open to those who live around the square or to those who happen to catch an open weekend.
