I decided to give this a try. I have not taken black and white photos since I put my film camera on the shelf months ago. So this is a humble first try. But first tries are always fun!

I was headed out for sunset on Captiva again when I noticed a storm building on the island. I just stopped and took this photograph. If you can “point and shoot” a camera, you can take photos here. That is how easy it is: bring the equipment and God provides the rest. And I love the way the Great Egret just “hangs around.” You can see him in the background of this picture near the water’s edge.

The storm chased me all the way to the Sanibel lighthouse.

The causeway between Sanibel and Captiva is in the background. This area is filled with sea shells. Sometimes there are so many that you just can’t dig through all of them.

Shells are deposited on shore with every turn of the waves.

The Island of Captiva is wild and beautiful, and sunset is especially beautiful. I have been here at all times of the year and never grow tired of watching this event. And I’m not alone.
